Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Joinlah, at joinlah.com. By creating an account or registering for an event through Joinlah, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

Joinlah is operated by an individual developer, not a company. There is no separate legal entity behind the Platform — references in these terms to “we”, “our”, or “us” mean that individual.

Joinlah is currently in beta. Features, pricing, and behaviour may change, and you may occasionally encounter bugs or downtime while we improve the Platform. We'll do our best to communicate material changes to Organizer account holders.

1. Definitions

• Platform means the Joinlah website and services available at joinlah.com.
• Organizer means a user who creates an account and publishes events on the Platform.
• Attendee means a person who registers for an event through the Platform.
• Event means a gathering, activity, or occasion listed by an Organizer on the Platform.
• Content means any information, text, images, or other material submitted by users to the Platform.

2. Accounts and registration

Organizer accounts

• You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity under your account.
• You must notify us immediately at hello@joinlah.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
• Accounts may not be shared between individuals. Each account must represent a single person or organization.

Attendee registration

• Attendees do not need a Joinlah account. Registration is tied to an email address per event.
• You must provide accurate information when registering for an event.
• The QR code issued to you is personal and non-transferable. You must not share it with others for the purpose of gaining unauthorized entry.

3. Organizer responsibilities

As an Organizer, you are responsible for all events you create and for the conduct of those events. You agree to:

• Publish only accurate, lawful, and non-misleading event information.
• Only collect personal data from Attendees that is necessary for managing the event and for purposes that are disclosed to Attendees.
• Comply with all applicable laws, including Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010, when handling Attendee data.
• Not use Attendee data for any purpose beyond the event without separate consent from Attendees.
• Promptly inform Attendees of any material changes to event details (date, time, location, or cancellation).
• Not use Joinlah to run events that are illegal, fraudulent, discriminatory, or harmful.

We may suspend or terminate access to the Platform without notice if we reasonably believe an Organizer is in breach of these terms or if an event poses a risk to Attendees or the public.

4. Attendee responsibilities

As an Attendee, you agree to:

• Provide accurate registration information.
• Not register for an event if you do not intend to attend, where registration is limited.
• Comply with the specific rules and requirements set by the Organizer for their event.
• Not misuse any QR code, ticket, or access credential provided to you.

5. Prohibited uses

You must not use the Platform to:

• Violate any applicable law or regulation.
• Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
• Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information.
• Distribute spam, unsolicited communications, or malicious software.
• Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from the Platform without our written permission.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Platform or to other users' accounts.
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Platform.
• Use the Platform in any way that could bring Joinlah into disrepute.

6. Intellectual property

Joinlah and its underlying technology, design, and software are owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Platform without our express written permission.

When you submit Content to the Platform (such as event descriptions or images), you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, store, and display that Content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the Platform. You retain ownership of your Content and may remove it by deleting the relevant event or contacting us.

7. Fees and payments

Joinlah doesn't sell software licenses or subscriptions. Instead, you can support the project through a voluntary contribution. While Joinlah is in beta, event capacity is free regardless of event size, but premium features (ticketing, queue management, lucky draw, and more) are unlock with a contribution as a thank-you for your support. Once Joinlah is out of beta, a contribution tier based on the scale of your event may also apply to capacity. Whenever a contribution is requested, the amount is shown clearly before you proceed, in the currency stated at checkout. Contributions are not refundable except where required by law or as expressly stated in our refund policy.

For events with paid tickets, the Organizer is responsible for setting ticket prices, managing payment, and issuing refunds to Attendees in accordance with their own refund policy. Joinlah is not a party to the transaction between Organizer and Attendee with respect to event tickets.

Where an Organizer settles Platform fees via Buy Me a Coffee, that payment is a contribution to support Joinlah, not a purchase of goods or services, and is processed subject to Buy Me a Coffee's own terms.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Platform is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. We do not endorse, verify, or take responsibility for any event created on the Platform by an Organizer.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Platform, including but not limited to:

• Loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses
• Damages resulting from any event organized through the Platform
• Damages resulting from unauthorized access to or alteration of your data

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from the use of the Platform shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or MYR 100, whichever is greater. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury, or fraud caused by our negligence.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, losses, liabilities, damages, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your breach of these terms, your use of the Platform, or any Content you submit to the Platform.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account or access to the Platform at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we determine violates these terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties.

You may close your Organizer account at any time by contacting us at hello@joinlah.com. Termination of your account does not affect any obligations you have to Attendees of your events.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the Platform shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia.

Before initiating any formal legal proceedings, we encourage you to contact us first at hello@joinlah.com so that we may attempt to resolve the matter informally.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify Organizer account holders by email. Your continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
